Small but very special is the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) in the old town of Innsbruck. In honor of the wedding of Emperor Maximilian, a roof was designed consisting of 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles. In the year 1500 the roof was finished and from the balcony under the golden roof the emperor and his wife could watch all kinds of festivities that took place on the square. The balcony is decorated with frescoes and sculptures. The building now houses an interactive museum about the era of the emperor.
